This law, known as HB 791, aims to shield the firearm and ammunition businesses from local regulations, creating a more favorable climate for industry growth in the Big Sky State.
By preempting municipal ordinances that could undermine state laws, the legislation sends a strong message against what industry advocates call “lawfare” from gun control activists. Governor Gianforte’s proactive measures could attract more firearm companies, as evidenced by the relocation of several businesses, including a significant $125 million investment from Brixtel Defense, which promises hundreds of new jobs for the local economy.
