Georgian police have apprehended 21 individuals, including a foreign national, across the capital Tbilisi and various regions, targeting illegal firearms and ammunition. The operation led to the seizure of an extensive arsenal, including grenades, a machine gun, and body armor, highlighting a significant crackdown on gun-related crimes in the country.
In a coordinated effort, law enforcement searched five residential properties and a vehicle linked to the suspects, finding drugs in some cases as well. Notably, 11 of the arrested individuals had prior criminal records, underscoring the ongoing challenges faced by authorities in addressing weapon offenses, which carry penalties of up to seven years in prison.
