Highland Heights Woman Demands Justice After Dog’s Death

Sandra Thomas, a Highland Heights resident, is still searching for answers five months after her 12-pound dog, RJ, was shot and killed by a Memphis Police officer on her front porch. Thomas claims the officer, who was responding to a 911 call, shot her dog without providing any explanation or apology, leaving her devastated and confused about the incident that unfolded on September 24, 2024.

According to Memphis Police, Officer Jachon Tisdale was suspended for three days for a policy violation, but Thomas, who witnessed her dog’s death, argues that the lack of communication about the situation has been distressing. She highlights her frustration over not being allowed to take RJ to an emergency clinic that was just three blocks away and remains resolute in seeking justice, stating she plans to pursue legal action against the department for the loss of her beloved pet.
