Tyrese Jamir Bateman, 24, from Pamplico, has been arrested and charged with serious crimes including murder, kidnapping, and armed robbery. The charges arise from two separate incidents, with the fatal shooting of Nikita Shontay Douglas on February 13 being a key element in the investigation. Law enforcement officials identified Bateman as the shooter after he allegedly fired multiple rounds into a residence, resulting in Douglas’s death and injuries to two others.
In addition to the murder charges, Bateman faces numerous other counts related to an armed vehicle theft that occurred days prior, where he was accused of threatening a victim with a firearm. Following a collaborative effort by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and local law enforcement, Bateman was apprehended on March 6. He is currently held in the Williamsburg County Detention Center as investigations into these incidents continue.
