Fort Worth police have released bodycam footage from a March 12 incident where an officer fired at the armed owner of a restaurant responding to a burglary alarm. The officer arrived at the scene, where the business owner, armed with a handgun, approached without notifying the police, leading to a tense encounter that could have ended in tragedy.
During the incident, as officers searched for potential intruders, they demanded that the owner show his hands. When he did not comply immediately, one officer discharged his weapon in the owner’s direction, thankfully missing. The owner, upon dropping his gun, identified himself, and police confirmed his identity before releasing him. The event underscores the importance of communication between business owners and law enforcement in high-stress situations.
