The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) has proposed a series of adjustments for the upcoming waterfowl hunting season, including reducing the teal hunting season to nine days from 16 due to declining blue-winged teal populations. The population is currently at 4.6 million, just below the threshold that triggers a reduction, highlighting the significance of wildlife management in the face of changing environmental conditions.
In addition to the teal season adjustment, the AGFC aims to raise the daily bag limit for northern pintails to three birds and designate February 7-8 for youth and military waterfowl hunts. These changes, contingent on further approval in April, emphasize the agency’s commitment to science-based wildlife regulations and community engagement.
