Alabama Man Convicted for 1998 Deer Poaching in Wyoming

An Alabama man, Kenny Craig, is convicted of poaching a deer in Wyoming, a case that remained unresolved for 25 years. In 1998, Craig illegally killed a 5-by-5 buck mule deer near Riverton without a valid license and subsequently evaded legal consequences until his arrest in March 2024.

After failing to appear in court multiple times, Craig finally faced charges in June 2024, where he accepted a no-contest plea for taking a deer without a license. The court imposed a $410 fine and $1,000 in restitution, along with a three-year suspension of his hunting privileges. This case underscores Wyoming’s commitment to prosecuting wildlife crimes, regardless of how much time has elapsed since the offense.
