An Alvarado police officer is recovering after being shot in the neck during a response to a report of a suspicious person near the Prairieland Detention Facility on July 4. The incident occurred around 10:56 p.m. when officers confronted an individual believed to be armed, leading to multiple suspects opening fire and prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
Despite the chaotic scene, police apprehended several suspects as the officer was transported to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth for treatment. While the officer has since been released, the U.S. Deputy Attorney General has made it clear that the Department of Justice is closely monitoring the situation, emphasizing a zero tolerance for assaults on federal officers and their facilities.
