This proposed change follows a public meeting on May 22, where Langseth emphasized the impact of deer on his and his wife’s businesses, which include a tree nursery and garden center, and noted that hunting currently ceases during waterfowl season.
Langseth, who has historically allowed archery hunting on the refuge, aims to alleviate damage caused by the rising deer numbers, which he characterizes as a nightly occurrence. Supported by DNR Regional Wildlife Manager Jim Stangel, the proposal is set for public discussion, with a decision anticipated shortly after the meeting to accommodate publication deadlines for Minnesota’s deer hunting regulations.
