Officials in Newberry County are conducting an extensive manhunt for a suspect who armed with a rifle, robbed both a store clerk and a customer at a Dollar General store in Pomaria on Friday night. The incident occurred around 8:45 p.m., when the masked gunman demanded cash while brandishing what authorities describe as an “assault type rifle” before fleeing the scene towards S.C. 202.
Despite the mobilization of deputies, K-9 units, and even a helicopter from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division already engaged in a missing person search, the armed robber remains at large. Investigators have received multiple tips regarding the suspect’s description, who wore distinctive clothing including a black baseball cap, blue gloves, and white sneakers. The search continues, and officials are urging anyone with information to contact the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office.
