A 21-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly robbing a teenager at knifepoint in Linden earlier this year, following a two-month investigation by local police. Rodney Peterson, who was already in custody for unrelated charges, faces multiple counts including first-degree armed robbery for the incident that occurred on February 13, when a masked assailant demanded the victim’s cell phone and headphones while brandishing a knife.
The investigation, conducted by the Linden Juvenile Aid Bureau, confirmed that the victim, a 15-year-old boy, was unharmed during the ordeal. Police Chief David Hart emphasized the community’s commitment to safeguarding its youth, stating, “There is truly no place in our community for those who would commit violent crimes like this against our children.” Peterson is currently held at the Essex County Jail as he awaits further legal proceedings.
