Arrest Made in Santa Barbara Armed Robbery Series

The Santa Barbara Police Department and Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office have arrested Hipolito Francisco Hernandez, a 47-year-old Carpinteria resident, in connection with multiple armed robberies in the area. The investigation, which began in January 2025, linked Hernandez to at least three incidents, including a robbery at the City Market in Carpinteria and Mechanics Bank in Santa Barbara.

Law enforcement agencies located Hernandez in Port Hueneme, where he was safely apprehended on March 7, 2025. During the arrest, officers recovered a pellet gun and other evidence related to the crimes, underscoring the seriousness of the charges against him. Hernandez is currently held at Santa Barbara County Jail with a bail set at $1,000,000.
