Jonathan Julio Nique, a 22-year-old resident of Austin, has been charged with eight felonies involving firearms that lack serial numbers, following a police investigation into his activities. Authorities discovered that Nique allegedly possessed around 30 firearms, including several that appeared to be 3D printed, and found evidence of explosive materials during a recent home search.
In addition to the weapon charges, Nique faces a separate felony for bringing live ammunition to a courthouse hearing. Investigators were alerted after reports of Nique making threatening statements about blowing up various government buildings, including the Olmsted County Government Center. The case raises significant questions about the proliferation of unregulated firearms and the serious nature of the threats allegedly made by Nique.
