BAE Systems announces the development of a hypervelocity projectile (HVP) designed for the U.S. Navy’s Mark 45 5-inch gun, aiming to boost the Navy’s defenses against drone and cruise missile threats. The Mk45 gun is a pivotal weapon installed on Arleigh Burke destroyers and Ticonderoga-class cruisers, with over 220 units in service worldwide.
