Authorities allege that Lopez shot a man in the bicep after becoming enraged that the victim had hugged his girlfriend, leading to a tense situation where Lopez barricaded himself inside a home before police apprehended him.
The incident unfolded on April 12 when the victim, a co-worker of López’s roommate, was shot shortly after dropping off the roommate at their residence. After attempting to drive away, the victim sustained a gunshot wound that required medical attention at UofL Hospital, but he ultimately survived the attack. With Lopez now in custody at Metro Corrections, the case raises questions about the consequences of violent reactions fueled by jealousy and anger.
