The incident unfolded when Haughton allegedly attempted to seize the officer’s firearm, leading to a struggle that resulted in him accidentally shooting himself in the foot.
During his arraignment in Boston Municipal Court, Haughton faces serious charges, including assault and battery on a police officer and illegal possession of a firearm. Remarkably, he was released from the hospital the same day before being booked on the charges. He has entered a not guilty plea and is held without bail as a dangerousness hearing is scheduled for the upcoming Monday.
