A Boulder man, Paul Anthony LaFournaise, is sentenced to 78 months in federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm, following a conviction in December 2024. The U.S. Attorney’s Office reports that LaFournaise, 59, has prior felony convictions that prohibit him from owning firearms, a fact he was aware of when he was found with a hand gun following an incident reported by a family member.
LaFournaise’s legal troubles began on May 11, 2024, when he was accused of threatening family members. The case revealed that he had a Kel-Tec 9 mm pistol and drug paraphernalia in a bag, which a family member had hidden due to concerns for safety. LaFournaise admitted to receiving the gun for protection while obtaining drugs, highlighting the intersection of personal conflicts and illegal firearm possession.
