Brooklyn to Offer $500 for Handguns at Buyback Event

Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announces a Gun Buyback event set for April 5, 2025, where participants can earn $500 for each operable handgun or assault rifle turned in. This initiative, hosted at Cornerstone Baptist Church, aims to further decrease gun violence in the community, which has already seen significant reductions, with shootings at their lowest recorded levels.

As part of this event, residents can also receive $200 for ghost guns, $75 for rifles or shotguns, and $25 for air guns or imitation firearms, all with no identification required. This ongoing partnership between the District Attorney’s Office and the NYPD reflects their commitment to community safety, emphasizing that each gun removed from the streets could save lives and help create safer neighborhoods.
