Calera Robbery Suspect Arrested, Faces Multiple Charges

Raymond Elston Harris Jr., a 30-year-old man from Irondale, is arrested by Birmingham police following an armed robbery at a Calera gas station, where he reportedly brandished a weapon and stole cash from an attendant. Harris’s arrest came after a series of criminal activities, including a pursuit that resulted in him allegedly striking a patrol vehicle and robbing a citizen.

Currently held in Jefferson County Jail without bond, Harris faces an extensive list of 14 charges, including multiple counts of robbery and attempted murder. The collaborative efforts of Calera and Birmingham police, along with federal agencies, underscore a concerted approach to handle violent crime across jurisdictions, as emphasized by Calera’s police chief during the investigation.
