This ruling follows a lawsuit led by San Diego County and the GIFFORDS Law Center, which alleges that the company was illegally marketing its machines to unlicensed individuals, thus circumventing state laws designed to enhance public safety.
GIFFORDS Law Center’s Litigation Director, Esther Sanchez-Gomez, stated that this court decision represents a significant victory for gun safety advocates and underscores the ongoing efforts to hold the gun industry accountable. Previously barred from selling the Ghost Gunner, Defense Distributed’s attempts to evade legal restrictions by rebranding have now been effectively stopped, paving the way for a more permanent solution to the issue of ghost guns in California.
