Car Salesman Fights for Justice After Being Shot

A Liberty car salesman, Jody Hendrick, is pursuing justice after being shot multiple times by a former customer during a violent encounter at his workplace. The incident left Hendrick with severe injuries, including a brain bleed and permanent mobility issues, prompting him to file a lawsuit against Academy Sports and Outdoors, from where the shooter stole the firearm.

Hendrick’s case faces significant hurdles due to the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, which limits legal liability for gun sellers under specific circumstances. Despite video evidence showing the theft and his claims of negligence against the sporting goods store, the Missouri courts have consistently upheld the law in favor of the retailer. As Hendrick fights for accountability, he emphasizes the need for stricter protocols in the sale and handling of firearms, particularly regarding customers with criminal backgrounds.
