A 35-year-old Chico man, Brandon Michael Ellingson, has been arrested by the Butte Interagency Narcotics Task Force for manufacturing and trafficking illegal firearms throughout Butte County. Law enforcement officials discovered an extensive illegal gun operation after initiating a traffic stop, where they found fentanyl pills and a loaded handgun in Ellingson’s vehicle. A subsequent search of his home revealed multiple firearms, unfinished gun parts, and two 3D printers used for making gun components, including parts for assault rifles and handguns.
Ellingson is also connected to the sale of nine assault rifles to a convicted felon, Alejandro Vargas Garcia, who has since been arrested. Both men now face severe firearm-related charges, with Ellingson potentially facing significant enhancements to his sentence due to California’s Proposition 36 related to fentanyl trafficking. This case highlights ongoing concerns regarding illegal gun manufacturing and the risks associated with 3D-printing technology in weapon production.
