A group of local churches in Corning, New York, is organizing the “Guns to Garden Tools” event on Saturday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to noon, aimed at transforming firearms into practical gardening tools. Hosted at the Community Mennonite Fellowship, the event will feature a presentation by RAWtools, a nonprofit dedicated to addressing gun violence creatively, alongside a live blacksmith demonstration where attendees can participate in the transformation.
This initiative reflects a growing community commitment to change perceptions around gun violence while offering a constructive outlet for those affected. Members of four churches—the Community Mennonite Fellowship, Christ Episcopal Church, First Baptist Church of Painted Post, and First United Methodist Church of Corning—invite everyone to join this unique opportunity to contribute to a more peaceful narrative.
