Colton H. Dennis, a 30-year-old man from Brantford, has been sentenced to 11.5 years after a police raid revealed nearly $400,000 worth of drugs and a loaded handgun in his home, where children also reside. The armed raid, executed by a tactical unit on November 17, 2022, followed a two-month investigation targeting local drug trafficking, specifically cocaine and fentanyl. Justice Scott Latimer emphasized the dangers posed by the loaded firearm and narcotics in a family setting, highlighting the risk to the children present in the household.
The operation, part of a broader investigation named Project Menace, resulted in one of Brantford’s largest drug seizures, totaling an estimated $1.2 million in illegal substances and firearms. Despite his limited prior record, Dennis’s significant drug possession charges and the presence of a loaded weapon led the court to impose a substantial sentence. After receiving credit for time served, Dennis is left with almost seven years remaining on his sentence.
