A 38-year-old man from Josephine County, identified as Christopher Smith, is in custody following a police raid that uncovered a half pound of fentanyl and numerous firearms in his possession. The operation, carried out by Grants Pass Police in collaboration with federal agencies, aimed to combat the rising fentanyl trade in southern Oregon and took place at a residence on Lower River Road.
The search revealed not only illicit drugs but also multiple guns and a 3D printer used for creating untraceable “ghost guns.” Smith is facing multiple charges, including Delivery and Possession of a Controlled Substance, along with federal firearms violations. This raid highlights ongoing struggles with drug trafficking and gun access in the region, prompting local law enforcement to intensify their efforts against such criminal activities.
