A recent joint operation along Interstate 95 has led to the seizure of approximately 55 pounds of illegal narcotics and over $230,000 in cash, as law enforcement agencies target drug trafficking organizations in the Roanoke Valley. The operation, which took place between March 17 and 21, involved an elevated police presence and collaboration between the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force, the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, Northampton County Sheriff’s Office, and Roanoke Rapids Police Department, among others.
The initiative yielded the arrest of seven individuals, including one caught with nearly 29 pounds of narcotics on the very first day. Notably, the operation also resulted in the apprehension of six wanted persons, including an individual sought by federal authorities. Sheriff Tyree Davis emphasized the unprecedented scale of this targeted enforcement effort, showcasing a significant commitment to combatting drug-related crime in the region.
