Families Sue Over Chiefs’ Super Bowl Rally Shooting

Families of victims from the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl rally shooting have filed a lawsuit accusing several gun sellers, city officials, and event organizers of negligence. The incident, which occurred on February 14, 2024, resulted in the tragic death of local DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan and left 22 others injured, including 11 children, prompting plaintiffs to argue that the violence was both “foreseeable and entirely preventable.”

The lawsuit, filed in Jackson County Circuit Court, highlights severe security lapses, asserting that at least 12 attendees entered the celebration zone with firearms, leading to a confrontation that turned deadly. Key defendants include gun retailers Frontier Justice and The Ammo Box, as well as Union Station Kansas City Inc. and the Greater Kansas City Sports Commission, with plaintiffs claiming that reckless sales practices contributed to the gun violence at the event.
