The family of Dyshan Best, who was shot and killed by a Bridgeport police officer, announces plans to sue the city for $40 million in damages. At a press conference, attorney Darnell Crosland presents evidence suggesting that Best was not armed, but rather carrying a liquor bottle and a vape pen at the time of the shooting on March 31. Crosland demands the arrest of Officer Yoon Heo, stating that Best posed no immediate threat when he was pursued and ultimately shot following a foot chase.
Amid calls for accountability, more than 75 protesters gathered to voice their anger over Best’s death, emphasizing the broader issues of police conduct in minority communities. Crosland claims that police approached the parked vehicle without probable cause, setting the stage for a tragic escalation. He also points to discrepancies in the accounts surrounding the shooting, including the mysterious presence of a gun found near Best’s body, which he argues has not been properly substantiated.
