Federal Charges for Cocaine Trafficking in NC

Raul Bello Rojas, a 43-year-old man previously deported from Mexico, faces federal charges in North Carolina for cocaine trafficking and illegal firearm possession. Federal authorities allege that Rojas intended to distribute over five kilograms of cocaine while unlawfully in possession of firearms, including a 9mm handgun and a .380 caliber handgun, during a crackdown linked to “Operation Take Back America.”

Rojas’s detention follows the seizure of more than $64,000 in cash during a search warrant execution on February 28, 2025. The severity of his charges, which could result in sentences ranging from 10 years to life in prison, underscores the complex interplay between immigration policy and drug enforcement efforts currently at play in the U.S.
