A 37-year-old man from Flint has been arrested and charged with armed robbery after allegedly attempting to hold up the Holiday Inn Express in Lapeer County on June 7. Dequantell Hayward-Lee Jamerson reportedly jumped over the lobby counter and demanded cash while reaching for what appeared to be a handgun in a bag, prompting police to take immediate action.
Officers apprehended Jamerson shortly after the incident while he was walking near a nearby Burger King. Fortunately, no money was stolen, and the alleged firearm was not found during investigations. Lapeer police credited their swift response as critical in catching the suspect, who is now in custody at the Lapeer County Jail awaiting his next court date on June 20.
