The Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) and the National Rifle Association (NRA) have filed a reply brief seeking a preliminary injunction in a legal challenge to Pennsylvania’s ban on firearm carry for individuals aged 18 to 20. The lawsuit, Young v. Ott, argues that this law infringes on the Second Amendment rights of young adults, preventing them from exercising their right to self-defense when outside their homes.
FPC aims to secure a court ruling that could affirm 18 to 20-year-olds have the right to carry firearms, highlighting the contradiction in existing laws that allow them to own guns but not carry them beyond walking distance from their residences. Their effort builds on a previous case outcome in the Third Circuit which could set a significant legal precedent for gun rights nationwide.
