The Georgia Board of Natural Resources has approved the hunting dates and regulations for the 2025-2026 migratory bird season, providing waterfowl enthusiasts with essential information to plan their outings. Notably, the early teal season will be shortened to nine days due to a decline in teal numbers observed during the latest survey, although the bag limit remains unchanged, according to Kara Nitschke, a biologist with Georgia’s Wildlife Resources Division.
Significant dates include the Canada goose hunting season from September 6 to 28 and the September teal season from September 13 to 21. Additionally, specific days for youth, veterans, and active-duty military hunters are set for November 15-16, where these groups can participate in hunting select migratory birds. For those interested in participating, a hunting license, a Georgia migratory bird license, and a federal duck stamp (now available as an electronic version) are required.
