Gun Industry Donates $2M for New Shooting Range in SD

Gun-industry companies and organizations have pledged $2 million towards the construction of a state-owned shooting range north of Rapid City, which will be one of the largest public shooting facilities in the United States. This $20 million, 400-acre complex, funded by various donors, aims to cater to recreational shooters, law enforcement training, and safety programs when it opens this fall.

The South Dakota Department of Game, Fish & Parks highlights that the complex will feature a variety of facilities, including rifle, pistol, shotgun, and archery ranges. As this significant investment unfolds, it raises questions about the future of shooting sports and the role of industry funding in public recreational facilities.
