The legislation responds to a significant uptick in gun incidents, with Honolulu reporting a 120% increase in ghost gun cases in 2024 compared to 2023. These advancements also include a ban on untraceable firearms and stricter penalties for felons found in possession of guns, highlighting Hawaii’s effort to balance public safety with the rights of responsible gun owners.
