Henrico Man Dies Following Armed Robbery Attempt

A Henrico man, identified as 50-year-old Ivan Hunt, dies after an attempted armed robbery escalates into gunfire early Saturday morning. Police responded to a shooting report in the 2800 block of Fairfield Avenue around 2:30 a.m., where they found Hunt with a gunshot wound; attempts to save him were unsuccessful at the hospital.

According to investigators, the incident unfolded when Hunt approached a couple in a vehicle with a firearm and attempted to rob them. During the encounter, he allegedly fired his weapon, prompting the male driver to return fire, which ultimately led to Hunt’s injuries. The investigation remains ongoing as police seek additional information from the community.
