Antonio Tamoya Mondragon, a 45-year-old illegal alien from Sampson County, has been sentenced to 17 years in prison after authorities seized over 30 kilograms of drugs and nine firearms linked to him. The case against Mondragon, who pled guilty in November 2024, unfolded after a lengthy investigation revealing his involvement in drug distribution dating back to 2008, culminating in a significant bust on April 18, 2023.
During the investigation, law enforcement conducted controlled purchases of methamphetamine and later discovered hidden cocaine during a traffic stop. A search of Mondragon’s home uncovered an extensive array of drugs, including heroin and fentanyl, as well as over $28,000 in cash and weapons. The case highlights ongoing efforts by the DEA and local law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and gun violence in the region.
