In response to escalating disruptions linked to a group of juveniles at the McDonald’s on Mohawk Street, the Utica Police Department has bolstered its presence in the area. Recent reports indicate that these youths have not only been harassing customers and staff but have also displayed increasingly violent behavior, prompting multiple calls for police intervention.
On May 19, officers confronted a group of around 10 juveniles near the fast-food restaurant, with some reportedly fleeing upon police arrival. Two 15-year-olds were apprehended; they possessed BB guns resembling real firearms. The police department has committed to maintaining a heightened presence to mitigate the ongoing disturbances and ensure the safety of patrons and employees alike.
