As part of her sentence, U.S. Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui criticized her public comments regarding the judicial system, which she labeled as “fake trials,” emphasizing that such claims undermine public confidence in the courts.
Lavrenz is among over 1,400 individuals charged related to the Capitol events, having raised more than $230,000 through crowdfunding in support of her legal battles and media appearances. The court’s ruling imposes a unique restriction by banning her from internet access during confinement, aimed at halting her potential profit from her actions. Her attorneys plan to appeal the conviction and the substantial fine, which they argue is unprecedented for a misdemeanor case.
