An armed robbery suspect is dead after engaging with law enforcement during a foot chase in Northwest Jacksonville. The incident occurred Wednesday morning near Soutel Drive and Norfolk Boulevard, following a robbery at a local business where the 20-year-old suspect demanded cash while armed and masked.

As officers responded, one officer, identified as Luis Mercado, pursued the suspect.
