Kansas Lawmakers Consider Changes to License Options

Kansas lawmakers have passed legislation that could significantly alter the state’s lifetime hunting and fishing license options, pending the governor’s approval. House Bill 2028 aims to reinstate a combination hunting and fishing license for older adults, which was previously discontinued, while also revising age limits and fees for children’s licenses.

Additionally, the bill introduces restrictions for out-of-state waterfowl hunters, allowing them to hunt only on specified days and within designated areas. Changes to migratory waterfowl habitat stamp fees would also align costs more closely with residency status, as in-state hunters face caps of $20 compared to $100 for out-of-state participants. This comprehensive bill offers a chance for Kansas to reshape its hunting regulations and enhance wildlife conservation efforts.
