A 31-year-old Lakewood man is hospitalized after allegedly shooting at Aurora police officers during a 13-mile car chase that began early Wednesday morning. The incident unfolded around 1:32 a.m. when officers responded to reports of an assault and observed a red Chevrolet pickup truck matching the description, which led to a high-speed pursuit that ended with a PIT maneuver on Interstate 25, causing the truck to roll over.
During the chase, the suspect, identified as Aaron Wallace, reportedly fired at officers in three separate bursts. While Wallace remains hospitalized and faces three counts of attempted first-degree murder, the woman with him is cooperating with law enforcement and has not been charged. Investigators found a .40 caliber gun at the crash site and are seeking information on a second suspect who fled after the incident, raising questions about the motives behind the initial assault.
