A 47-year-old man from Chelsea, Maine, was arrested for possession of firearms he is legally prohibited from owning, according to the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office. Jason Rocque faces charges of Possession of Firearms by a Prohibited Person and Violating Conditions of Release after police discovered three shotguns, three rifles, and numerous boxes of ammunition during a search of his home on Windsor Road.
Rocque’s prior conviction for drug trafficking in 2000 bars him from legally owning firearms, raising significant concerns about public safety. He has been taken into custody at the Kennebec County Jail, and the incident underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement to enforce gun ownership laws among individuals with criminal backgrounds.
