A 38-year-old man, Mitchell Baggarly, was arrested Monday afternoon for allegedly robbing a South Macon gas station at gunpoint. According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to a 911 call at around 2:00 p.m. and found Baggarly fleeing the scene after he reportedly forced his way into the BP gas station on Hawkinsville Road to steal cash from an ATM.
During the incident, Baggarly confronted the store manager while brandishing a firearm. After a struggle over the cash box, he abandoned it and ran outside, only to be apprehended shortly afterward along the train tracks on Hawkinsville Road. He faces charges of armed robbery and obstruction of law enforcement and is currently being held in the Bibb County Jail without bond.
