A 45-year-old man from New Haven was arrested in West Haven on Friday after police discovered an illegal firearm during a routine traffic stop. Officers initiated the stop on Elm Street when they noticed the vehicle displayed incorrect license plates and subsequently learned that the driver, Jose Perez-Dominguez, was operating the vehicle with a suspended license.
During the search of Perez-Dominguez’s Chevy Silverado, police uncovered a concealed Smith & Wesson .38 Special revolver with an obliterated serial number, along with 100 rounds of .38-caliber ammunition and shotgun shells. He now faces multiple charges, including illegal possession of a firearm and is currently being held on bond, awaiting his court appearance next week.
