A 28-year-old man is in critical condition following a police-involved shooting in Belmont Cragin that occurred early Saturday morning. Police were responding to a report of shots fired and a battery incident when the suspect allegedly drove his vehicle toward officers, prompting them to open fire.
After fleeing the scene, the suspect was found injured on North Menard Avenue with gunshot wounds. A firearm was discovered in his vehicle as authorities continue their investigation with the Chicago police’s Investigative Response Team and the Civilian Office of Police Accountability. The involved officers are currently placed on administrative duty as the incident unfolds.
