Marchers Protest Gun Violence in Kalamazoo

Hundreds of residents in Kalamazoo unite to march against gun violence in the wake of the tragic death of Marktavion Perry-Bennett, who was fatally shot last week. The event, which began at Mount Zion Baptist Church, culminated at the site of the shooting, where participants held a prayer vigil to support Perry-Bennett’s family and advocate for change within their community.

Pastor Addis Moore, who organized the march, emphasizes the collective strength of the community in the fight against gun violence, stating, “When the voices of the people are louder than the voices of evil, the evil has to cease.” Attendees paused for reflection and community solidarity, underscoring the urgent need for action in addressing gun violence in Kalamazoo.
