MD Attorney General and Mayor Sue Glock Over Gun Sales

Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown and Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott have filed a lawsuit against Glock, Inc., alleging that the company sells semi-automatic handguns that can easily be converted into illegal machine guns using a device known as the “Glock Switch.” This lawsuit marks the first application of Maryland’s new Gun Industry Accountability Act, which prohibits firearm manufacturers from contributing to public harm through their products.

The lawsuit asserts that Glock’s continued sales of these easily modifiable pistols have made it possible for criminals to access fully automatic firepower, with reports showing that over 100 modified Glock pistols were discovered at crime scenes in Baltimore in just a two-year span. Attorney General Brown emphasized the urgent need to hold the gun industry accountable for its role in the gun violence epidemic affecting communities.
