A Milwaukee Police Department officer is hospitalized after being injured in a gunfire exchange with a suspect during a foot pursuit. The incident occurred on June 12, when officers responded to reports of two individuals brandishing weapons and attempted to apprehend them, leading to a confrontation in an alley where both the officer and a 39-year-old suspect sustained non-fatal injuries.
During the pursuit, officers recovered two ghost guns from the scene, raising concerns about the rising prevalence of untraceable firearms. The officer involved, a 30-year-old with over seven years on the force, will be placed on administrative duty while the investigation continues. Both suspects, including a 19-year-old accomplice who was also arrested, will face charges from the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office as the investigation remains ongoing.
