Minnesota Expands Hunting Options for 2026

The Minnesota legislature has approved significant changes to hunting regulations, set to take effect in 2026, including the elimination of shotgun zones in many areas. This decision allows counties to establish their own rules regarding firearms for deer hunting, a shift aimed at enhancing local management and flexibility.

Additionally, the state is introducing year-round bass fishing, with no closed season, which aligns it with other popular fish species like panfish and perch. Other measures include a one-year extension of crossbow use for all hunters and reduced fishing and hunting license fees for military veterans, further encouraging outdoor activities across the state.
