A Newport Beach police officer fatally shot a motorcyclist, identified as 45-year-old Geoffrey Shyam Stirling, during a traffic stop after the suspect reportedly assaulted the officer and tried to use his Taser. The incident occurred around 9:15 p.m. on Coast Highway, where police had stopped Stirling for an unspecified traffic violation. During the encounter, Stirling became noncompliant, leading to a confrontation that escalated quickly.
